Swedish/Classic
Our most popular treatment; a classic massage using various techniques and pressures ideal for relaxation and tranquillity.
About the Treatment
  1. What is a Swedish/Classic massage?
This treatment is our most popular option as it resembles what people would classify as the “traditional” massage, therefore being an option that would suit everyone no matter what your preference.
The Swedish or Classic massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes, theses being effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction and vibration/shaking. The different strokes as well as varying pressures that the therapist will use ensure that the massage leads to a sense of relaxation as well as benefitting the body by releasing stress and tension.
  2. Why choose a Swedish/Classic massage?
This treatment is one of the recommended options if you are completely new to massage therapy and are unsure of what types of movements and pressures you prefer. It is also suggested for those who have osteoarthritis, bone or muscle pain or if you just simply wish to relax and unwind with a classic massage.
  3. Main benefits
    • Aids joint stiffness in osteoarthritis
    • Improves circulation
    • Soothes muscles and relaxes
    • Reduces emotional and physical stress
    • Reduces lower back pain
What to expect…
  1. Before
Initially the therapist will interpret what you would like to gain from the treatment and whether you have any specific medical problems that they may aid with or take into account during the massage.
You will be left alone to undress (underwear should remain), and then lie on the massage table (with assistance by the therapist if required).
  2. During
During the treatment, the therapist will use a range of strokes and movements working with lighter pressures over bones and deeper pressures over areas with more tissue and muscle.
  3. After
After your treatment you will feel relaxed, wholesome and calm. We advise you to continue to relax and to drink plenty of water in order to aid removal of toxins that will have been released, as well as to rehydrate the body. Alcohol should be avoided in the few hours after treatment. If feeling sore, a hot bath is highly recommended.
Please note: All our therapists can perform the summer massage. Your summer massage can be combined with all massage treatments so simply choose your massage type and leave an additional comment "summer massage" on the booking confirmation page.
