A specialised treatment where firm pressure is used to relieve tension in the deeper muscle layers and connective tissue, most beneficial for those who experience chronic pain, have had a physical injury and athletes. About the Treatment
What is a Deep Tissue Massage/Sports Massage?
This treatment is designed to massage and release tension in the deep muscles and stretch out the fascia also. The therapist will use various tecniques in order to relive stress in the muscles and tissue such as stretching, neuromuscular techniques and myofascial release.
For the deep tissue sports treatment, anti-inflammatory creams will be used, as these will aid with the process of pain relief in the muscles and tissues. These topical creams will be absorbed into the skin and reduce the inflammation in the local area.
Why choose a Deep Tissue Massage/Sports Massage?
This treatment is most recommended for those who are experiencing chronic pain (neck stiffness, back pain, shoulder pain), are involved in heavy regular physical activity or those who have a sustained physical injury. The deep tissue massage can be effective not just after physical activity, but also before, acting as a preventative treatment it will improve muscle tone and muscular potential therefore improving performance.
However, this treatment is not just for individuals who are athletes or are experiencing pain. It has the flexibility to be suited to all individuals and especially if you prefer a treatment with greater pressure, this option is highly recommended.

What to expect…
Before
Before the treatment, the therapist will consult you to learn about why you have chosen this treatment and what part of your body you would like them to focus on according to where you are injured or experiencing pain.
You will be left alone to undress (underwear should remain), and then lie on the massage table (with assistance by the therapist if required). you are comfortable during the treatment and communicate with your therapist about any concerns.
During
According to your individual needs and utilising the therapist’s knowledge, the treatment will either focus on the whole body or just on one specific part. Pressure applied may start off low in order to get blood flowing. Then the therapist will work with a range of movements and different parts of their body to increase the pressure applied, ensuring that your deep muscle layers are worked on.
After
After your treatment you will feel calm and relaxed. We advise to drink plenty of water in order to aid removal of toxins that will have been released and to rehydrate the body. Alcohol should also be avoided.
Do note that it is not unusual for receivers of this treatment to have their previous pain replaced with a new sore muscle ache for a few days. Hot baths are recommended to relieve the post-treatment soreness if present.
Please note: All our therapists can perform the summer massage. Your summer massage can be combined with all massage treatments so simply choose your massage
type and leave an additional comment "summer massage" on the booking confirmation page.
