Indian Head Massage

About the treatment

  1. What is the Indian Head Massage?
The Indian head massage is derived from the Ayurvedic healing system which strives to create a balance between the body and mind. Originally the techniques were developed by women in India to help stimulate hair growth and now it has been developed to encompass the upper back, arms and shoulders. This gentle and nurturing massage incudes a variety of techniques including circular massage strokes on your scalp and deep tissue work on your shoulders. The combination of brisk friction movements and slower circular movements will release tension through your whole body, leaving you feeling calm and revitalized.

  2. Why choose a Indian Head Massage?
This massage is great to combat the stress of daily life, which can be strain on the upper body. This treatment is recommended for those who are experiencing symptoms such as migraines as this deeply calming and relaxing experience can help to improve sinus problems and headaches by increasing circulation and lymphatic flow which will leave you feeling energized.

  3. Main Benefits

  • Relieves build up in tension that can lead to headaches and migraines
  • Promotes hair growth and improves scalp condition
  • Relieves symptoms of insomnia
  • Increases concentration

What to expect…

  1. Before
Before the treatment, the therapists will learn about any medical history, about what you expect from the treatment and how you want to feel as a result. This will ensure that the treatment is specific to your needs and you can get the most out of the process.

  2. During
During the treatment, the therapist will begin by applying pressure to points in the upper back and shoulders to dissolve knots and relax muscles. Then the therapist will continue to apply pressure to the neck, head and scalp to encourage better circulation of cerebral fluid. A relief of stress and tightness should be felt; however, no pain should be endured. In the case of feeling any pain during the massage please let the therapist know straight away. Traditionally the massage involves the use of oils, however this will depend on your therapist.

  3. After
After your treatment you will feel relaxed, clear-headed and calm. We advise you to continue to relax and to drink plenty of water to aid removal of toxins that will have been released, as well as to rehydrate the body. Alcohol should be avoided in the few hours after treatment. If feeling sore, a hot bath is highly recommended.

Please note: All our therapists can perform the summer massage. Your summer massage can be combined with all massage treatments so simply choose your massage type and leave an additional comment "summer massage" on the booking confirmation page.
